We’ve been in love with layers for the spring, and as the weather starts to warm up, we wanted to show you some of our favorite looks during the transition into the summer.
Look 1: Lime Green
One of our favorite, classic ways to layer is with a turtleneck and a dress. Lime green is one of our favorite fresh spring colors, so we decided to add a bit of interest with a lime green dress. We accessorized this look with a belt for a more modern approach to the classic combo.
Look 2: Femme Layers
For the second outfit, we opted for a 90’s inspired look, pairing a silky pink slip with a sheer tie top. We love mixing patterns and fabrics when putting together an outfit. It adds texture and is a way to elevate something as simple as an everyday slip. And of course, we had to pair this homage to the 90’s with some classic platform sneakers!
Look 3: Monochromatic
We opted to go all black for our third look. When going monochromatic, it’s important to play with different textures in order to avoid “drowning” in the color. Pairing the mesh long sleeve with a black tube top layered over adds another dimension to the outfit. You want to accentuate the different shades and draw attention to the versatility of the color. Layering with sheer fabrics, like this mesh one, allows you to do this without being overbearing.
Last, but not least,
we wanted to say thank you so much to our supporters from all over the world! Kaitlyn’s prom dress and our photoshoot going viral has been such a surreal experience. A special thanks to the Daily Dot as well as My Modern Met for their interviews and features. We’ve enjoyed reading all of your comments as well as your sharing of your own DIY dress experiences. Many of you have asked, but as of now Kaitlyn is currently not taking orders on any dresses. In the meantime, we hope that you enjoy our DIY’s and styling posts and hope that they inspire you to go out and explore your creative side!
